چکیده
A ballistic projectile launching device was used to study the penetration behaviors of tungsten alloy spherical fragments various diameters into carbon fiber composite target plates different thicknesses. Based on test results, we obtained relationship between ultimate velocity, plate thickness, and fragment diameter as well energy incident velocity. Using dimensional analysis, a formula relating velocity energy, which showed good agreement with experimental values. We also analyzed main fracture mode absorption mechanism under high-velocity impacts spheres investigated damage modes at velocities during impact.

Characterization and Cytotoxic Assessment of Ballistic Aerosol Particulates for Tungsten Alloy Penetrators into Steel Target Plates
The nature and constituents of ballistic aerosol created by kinetic energy penetrator rods of tungsten heavy alloys (W-Fe-Ni and W-Fe-Co) perforating steel target plates was characterized by scanning and transmission electron microscopy. These aerosol regimes, which can occur in closed, armored military vehicle penetration, are of concern for potential health effects, especially as a consequenc...
متن کاملAnalytical and numerical modeling of erosive projectiles into steel fiber reinforced concrete target
In this paper, modeling of high speed projectiles with different nose shapes, penetrating into steel fiber reinforced concrete is investigated. This is a novel study because it considers the length to diameter ratio of steel fiber as well as projectile length to diameter ratio and volume fraction of fiber used in concrete matrix on the impact resistance of steel fiber reinforced concrete fibers...
متن کاملEvolution mechanism of nanocrystalline tungsten-carbon and effects on tungsten implanted amorphous hydrogenated carbon
Tungsten doped amorphous carbon films are prepared on silicon 100 by postimplantation of tungsten ions into pure amorphous hydrogenated carbon using the plasma immersion ion implantation technique. The peak concentration of tungsten reaches 27 at. % and W–C nanocrystallites with largest diameters of 5 nm are formed in the near surface region. Both the quantity and size of these nanocrystallites...
متن کاملEnhanced microwave absorbing performance of CoNi alloy nanoparticles anchored on a spherical carbon monolith.
CoNi alloy nanoparticles anchored on a spherical carbon monolith (CoNi-C) were prepared by a solvothermal route and subsequent heat treatment without any templates. Their permittivity and permeability behaviors were studied in the frequency range of 2-18 GHz. The CoNi-C composites showed the best microwave absorbing performances compared to those of Co-C and Ni-C. The maximum reflection loss of...
متن کاملQuantum modeling (DFT) and experimental investigation of beryllium-tungsten alloy formation.
Beryllium, tungsten and carbon are planned as wall-cladding materials for the future international tokamak ITER. Be and W will be the dominant components and therefore the formation of binary Be-W alloys under plasma action is one of the most important issues in plasma-wall interaction processes at the first wall. This paper proposes a first-principles density functional theory (DFT) study of b...
